Meet the Team
John Waite, Managing Director
John offers a unique perspective: he’s a scientist and tech-savvy communications specialist with his head in the clouds.
John did his doctoral and post-doctoral research on microbial population dynamics in plastics and woods, including computer modelling using his self-taught programming skills. He was recruited by Flow Laboratories and rose through the company to head the UK operations before becoming VP Europe, Middle East and Africa. When he realised he couldn’t find a reliable technologically literate PR company, he took matters into his own hands and founded Catalyst Communications. His specialty is working with clients in the life sciences, biopharmaceutical, mobile telecom and computing sectors. Outside of work, John’s a keen pilot of flexwing and fixedwing microlight aircraft, which he has been flying for 11 years (not continuously – he lands every now and then). He’s pretty good at it too. With Rob Grimwood, he's won UK, European and World Microlight Championships, beginning with gold in 2010 in a flexwing at the European Championship before changing to fixedwing and winning the European and World titles in 2013 and 2014. They took a break to organise the 2016 World Championships at Popham Aerodrome in the UK, returning to competitive flying in 2017 and taking the bronze medal in the European Championships.
Anthony Hildebrand, Account Director
Anthony’s passion is for the written word. He champions a creative approach to tech PR and communications strategy, bringing a distinct, playful, humorous tone to complex or dry subject matter. His professional career has been spent in publishing and communications as a journalist, editor and copywriter, including eight years in the B2B security media. His clients come from a range of sectors, including security and surveillance, traffic technology, software, biometrics and eco-building products. Outside of Catalyst for Content, Anthony’s passion is also for the written word. For two years he was the writer-in-residence for the Warwick Words Festival of Literature and Spoken Word, and his stories have appeared in a number of anthologies. He’s currently working on a novel. An Australian resident in the UK since 2001, Anthony now calls Leamington Spa home, because that’s where he lives. Which seems fair enough.
